Natural NRG Superfood Bar "This well-presented bar has clear ingredients that pleasingly had not been overworked. We enjoyed the chew and mouthfeel, the balance of flavours, contrast of texture and well-judged level of sweetness. A satisfying, lingering mouthful! A well-composed little cereal bar with a wide range of fruit, seed and grain flavours and a great balance of sweetness, acidity, and nuttiness. Almost creamy on the palate despite the pleasing variety of textures. It holds together well, too, yet is not overly syrupy. Clean finish, and undoubtedly moreish. A well achieved energy bar, something of a rarity."

KMC NRG BAR Chocolate Coated "The mint is full-on and we love the way it dissolves in the mouth leaving a pleasing freshness. The crystallisation is quite delightful and the chocolate hardly makes its presence felt. Well done. Thin chocolate covering the kendal mint cake with all the rich mint aroma you would expect. Soft melts in the mouth releasing all the classic mint flavour that is well balance with the well judged thin but tasty chocolate - a very enjoyable well made tasty sweet treat - ideal for walking the hills."

"I really enjoyed trialling these products. My favourite was the chocolate mint recovery power which I found to be very effective and delicious. I would use the chocolate mint gels again – I cant say I tasted the chocolate, but I loved the fresh mouth feeling. The electrolyte drink was nice – but there is a lot of competition in this market and I am not sure that the product has a unique Kendal Mint Cake selling / taste point.

In terms of the bars – I would potentially purchase again. However, I am not sure of the difference between the original bars and the sports version – so for me it would be a question of price. In the past I would not have considered using Kendal Mint Cake for race day fuel / nutrition but I would consider it now. Of the samples I tried they all tasted really good and the added mint made for a really nice and refreshing aftertaste that is like no gel I’ve had before. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy some more of the KMC products, the big choice however would be which ones to buy!!​ One other aspect of the gels I found good was opening them up. I didn’t have any issues and no real effort was required to open, which should bode well for opening on the move. If you haven’t tried KMC before then I would recommend you give them a try. The added mint in their products was a really welcome addition for me and I will be buying some more in the future."
