Kendal Mint Co® Announces New Anti-Litter Tab and Tougher Packaging for KMC NRG Gels

Customer feedback drives the next evolution of KMC NRG Gels, with stronger packaging, reduced litter risk and the same trusted stomach-friendly Dual-Charge carbohydrate formula.

Kendal Mint Co® has announced the next evolution of its award-winning KMC NRG Gel range, introducing a new anti-litter tab and even tougher packaging across its single-serve energy gels.

The upgraded packaging will begin rolling out next month, starting with the brand’s most popular flavour, Raspberry & Mint, before being introduced across all six KMC NRG Gel flavours.

The move follows direct feedback from the KMC community, with athletes asking for even tougher gels and a simpler way to reduce litter during training, racing and outdoor adventures.

Every athlete has a next Everest. So do we.

In the same way our customers take on bigger challenges, tougher races and wilder routes, Kendal Mint Co® is always looking for ways to improve. This packaging update is the next step in that process.

Same Trusted Fuel. Smarter Packaging.

KMC NRG Gels have always been made to the highest standards, with every batch undergoing strict quality checks including microbiological testing, pressure testing, rigorous internal & external quality control and Informed Sport testing.

This latest update does not change the trusted formula inside.

Each gel still contains:

  • 27g Dual-Charge carbohydrates
  • The same KMC energy athletes trust
  • The same stomach-friendly formulation
  • The same refreshing mint profile
  • The same performance-led approach to fuelling

What has changed is the packaging.

The new anti-litter tab is designed to help keep the torn top attached to the gel sachet, reducing the risk of small pieces of packaging being dropped on roads, trails or race routes. Combined with tougher packaging, the upgraded sachet is built to better handle the demands of real training and racing.

Built From Customer Feedback

Kendal Mint Co® has always believed that the best product improvements come from listening to the people using them in the real world.

Customers asked for:

  • Stronger gel packaging
  • Less chance of litter on the trails
  • The same trusted KMC performance
  • A practical step towards more responsible fuelling

So we listened.

KMC NRG Gels have always been every batch tested, produced to the highest possible standard, with every batch checked before reaching customers.

This is about improving the experience around the gel: making the packaging tougher, cleaner and more practical for the athletes who carry KMC in their pockets, race belts, vests and bike bags.

Tested Beyond the Lab

Laboratory testing matters. Quality control matters. Every-batch testing matters.

But athletes do not use energy gels in perfect lab conditions.

They use them in wind, rain, mud, salt spray, heat, cold and fatigue. They use them halfway through races, on mountain passes, on remote trails and in the final miles when hands are tired and focus is fading.

That is why Kendal Mint Co® also field-tested the new packaging in the Outer Hebrides and with athletes across the UK.

Remote. Exposed. Wild.

The upgraded gel packaging was tested in the sort of conditions where performance products need to be simple, reliable and tough.

It passed.

A Step Towards Less Litter

Single-serve gels remain an important option for many athletes, especially those discovering what works for them, testing flavours, racing, travelling or fuelling on the go.

But reducing waste and litter still matters.

The new anti-litter tab is designed to help athletes use single-serve gels more responsibly, while KMC continues to encourage customers to explore the brand’s 100% refillable gel system once they have found the flavour and formula that works best for them.

The intended journey is simple:

Start by testing what works for your body.

Find your favourite flavour.

Then, when you are ready, move towards refillable fuelling.

KMC’s refillable gel pouches and soft flasks offer athletes a lower-waste way to fuel regular training blocks, long runs, rides and races without compromising on performance.

Progress Is Part of the Climb

Kendal Mint Co® is clear that progress is not about claiming perfection.

It is about consistently making better choices.

For the brand, that means improving product performance, packaging strength, customer experience and environmental responsibility wherever possible.

This latest packaging upgrade is another step in that direction.

Tougher packaging.

A new anti-litter tab.

The same trusted KMC energy.

And a clear pathway towards refillable fuelling for athletes who want to reduce waste further.

Rolling Out From Next Month

The new KMC NRG Gel packaging will begin rolling out next month, starting with Raspberry & Mint, before being introduced across all six flavours.

Customers will begin to see the updated packaging appear as new batches become available.

Kendal Mint Co® will continue to listen to customer feedback and develop its products around the needs of real athletes taking on real challenges.

Because every athlete has a next Everest.

And so do we.
